The UK Plastics Pact unites businesses, governments, and NGOs to reduce plastic waste by creating a circular economy. Members aim to eliminate problematic plastics, reduce packaging, encourage innovation, and strengthen the UK’s recycling system. The goal is to ensure all plastic packaging is recyclable and reused, keeping it out of the environment.

In March 2022, UNEA-5.2 adopted a historic resolution to create a legally binding treaty to end plastic pollution, including in oceans. The final negotiations (INC-5.2) will be held from 5–14 August 2025 in Geneva. Ahead of this, a “Beating Plastic Pollution: Solutions Day” with high-level panels and dialogues will take place on 3 August.
